About me

I am a native Floridian — second-generation no less, as my father was born while my grandparents vacationed in St. Cloud. I began my college education at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, where my undergraduate studies focused on chemistry, mathematics, and French. After two years and two tuition hikes, I headed south to Miami, Florida, where I worked as a secretary at the University of Miami School of Law during the day and studied computer science at night.

After a move to Orlando, I earned a BS in Business Administration (Accounting), summa cum laude, from the University of Central Florida. My diploma was followed by a CPA license and four children. I kept the children but let the CPA license go. I continued to do bookkeeping as a home business, and I wrote out of compulsion.

My unusual degree path has given me knowledge in a wide variety of subjects. Before I thought of writing as a profession, I wrote several guest editorial "My Word" columns for The Orlando Sentinel, published newsletters for school groups, designed curricula on public speaking, leadership, and rabbit care for my 4-H clubs, wrote e-mail responses to questions on behalf of the Home Education Foundation, a lobbying organization, and created press releases for various volunteer organizations.

In 2008, I began my professional writing career. My first clients were Dale and Sara Jean Gross of Caberfeidh Productions, LLC. Caberfeidh Productions brings the best of Celtic, bluegrass, folk, and acoustic music concerts to Tampa Bay. Working with Caberfeidh, I have had the privilege of promoting concerts for Battlefield Band, Colin Grant-Adams, Andrea Beaton, Troy MacGillivray, Sabra MacGillivay, Patrick Ball, Christine Lavin, Don White, Claire Lynch, Tamara Volskaya and Anatoliy Trofimov, Henri's Notions, and The Rowan Cunningham Band.

I am a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and a freelance writer on the Editorial Team for K-12 Education with The Research Masters, a full-service book packager/book producer.

I write a monthly column on technology for writers, "Tech Talk", for The Scarlett Letter, the newsletter of Tampa Area Romance Authors (TARA). This column has been reprinted in other RWA chapter newsletters across the United States and Canada.

I continue to look for opportunities to help others by giving words to their vision.
